Breakfast/Lunch Rules

Paying for meals

Breakfast and lunch fees may be paid in the central office or during registration.  The fees are:  K-12 grade lunch $2.70, K-12 breakfast $1.95, extra sandwiches/pizza, etc. range from $1.00 to $1.50 and extra milk 60¢. Extras will automatically be deducted from your lunch account.  We suggest that meals be purchased for twenty days at a time, but any amount is acceptable.

Breakfast Time

Breakfast will be served from 7:50 to 8:10 a.m.

Meal Cards

Students must present their computerized meal cards in order to eat.  If they do not have their card, they will have to go to the end of the lunch line.  Therefore, students will be expected to replace lost or mutilated cards as quickly as possible by paying the $3.50 replacement fee.  These highly durable meal cards should last a student throughout his or her school career.

Extras

All students, including free, reduced, or regular paying have the opportunity to purchase extra sandwiches and/or milk. Students are expected to pay for their extras at the time of purchase.  Credit will not be extended past $5.00. Once students accounts have reached minus $5.00, they will not be allowed to purchase any more extras until the bill is paid.

Sack Lunch and Purchasing Milk

If your student prefers to bring a sack lunch, they also eat in the cafeteria.  Milk can be purchased for 60¢ per carton.  Students who live within walking distance of school can go home for lunch.  However, if your child plans to go home for lunch, please send a note to the teacher or office stating the days your child will be going home for lunch.

ALA Carte Program

Ala carte will be implemented again this year.  It will be available to all Jr. High, High School and staff. All purchases will be cash sales only.  There is no credit.  Purchases will NOT BE TAKEN FROM YOUR LUNCH ACCOUNT.  Ala carte may be purchased in combination with the meal or separately.  It is not mandatory to purchase hot lunch to utilize ala carte.  Any suggestions or ideas are always welcome.  All products will meet a nutritional value set by government regulations.

Substitution of Foods/Special Meals

The USDA governing the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program states that substitutions to the regular meal must be made for children who are unable to eat certain foods because of their disabilities, when that need is certified by a licensed physician.  All meals must meet the meal program regulations.

Substitutions must be requested via the diet modification request form (PDF).

The Program Meal Patterns per day are as follows: fresh fruit and vegetables are served every day, sandwiches are served on whole wheat buns, all pasta served is whole grain,  milk that is available is only low-fat or fat-free, main dishes have been changed to reduce sodium, dark green and orange vegetables are served on a weekly basis, dried beans have been incorporated into some of the recipes. Salad bars are available every day that include romaine lettuce and spinach.
